1965  Chevy  Corvair Monza
Price : $900 Clear Title:
Location:  halltown, MO

Short Description: 1965 CORVAIR CONVERTIBLE
Long Description :
The car is a '65 Monza convertible with the 140hp 4 carb engine and a 4 speed transmission. The body looks better in the pictures than it does in person. There is some putty in the metal in places. The rocker panels are still there but really need to be replaced due to rust. The floor panels are bad. The trunk is surprisingly good. It has a hole under each of the headlight buckets. The rest is solid. The front seats look good. The back seat needs new foam and covered. The rear door panels are missing and the fronts aren't good. It does have the Corsa dash in it. The VIN clearly decodes as Monza though. The engine starts and runs. It has no exhaust. The car is drivable for moving around the yard or loading but I wouldn't take it on the road. I start it every couple of weeks and move it to mow. The fuel tank has a small drip near the sending unit. I've been running it with an auxilliary tank under the hood rather than keep pouring gas in it everytime I need to start it. The convertible top will need replaced. It is good enough to keep the weather out with the exception of the rear window which is gone. I've been tarping it. All of the glass is there. It has late model S-10 wheels with 4 brand new 205/60R15 tires. I also special ordered the correct lug nuts to mount the later model wheels to the earlier non-metric wheel studs and still retain the screw in lug covers. It has a new battery as of a couple of months ago. The lock cylinder is gone from the trunk. The latch on the glove box is broken. The electrical system will need work. It starts with the key but the lights and wipers don't work from their switches. The front drivers brake line has been crimped off. I have a new pre-formed replacement from Clark's Corvair Parts but I haven't installed it. I'm sure I've missed a few things. If you can think of any questions or want pictures of a specific area, just ask. I'll be glad to take more pics or answer questions. I took this car in on a trade not quite a year ago. I had planned on making it a project but I just can't spare the time or money right now. The last time I went to move it to mow I had to deal with 2 nests of red wasps and a mouse nest inside the exhaust shroud. After that I decided that it would be better off with someone else than sitting here rotting. I have a shop manual and the book "How To Keep Your Corvair Alive" that will come with it. It has a clear salvage title in my name. I have over $500 invested in the last few months with the tires, wheels, battery and special lug nuts. With that and it being a 140 4spd convertible that actually runs I'm asking $900. I'm not selling it for the money, so I would also be interested in trades or partial trades. I would be interested in guns, tools, other vehicles, motorcyle, ATV, livestock, possibly anything. This is a project for an ambitious person. Keep in mind that this car is rough.
